Road closure means Windermere Ferry off limits to vehicles for one day

A road closure in the Lake District means Windermere Ferry will be off limits to vehicles for one day.

The B5285 through Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey will be closed on Wednesday July 8 for surface dressing.

The road will be closed from Lake Bank Coach House to Windermere Ferry between 8am and 5pm.

Pedestrian access and access for dismounted cyclists will be maintained.

The ferry will operate on its usual schedule that day but between 7.50am and 5pm will only be open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Westmorland & Furness Council said the road closure order has been issued for three days but it was anticipated that only one day will be needed.

The authority said it was part of a £3.4 million surface dressing programme that, by the end of August this year, will see 67 miles of road sealed with a preventative treatment that improves the carriageway surface and delays the development of potholes for up to 10 years.
