The 12th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW 2019) will run from 4th March to 8th March 2019. The week celebrates the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to chose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.
Inspira, the leading career management and personal development organisation in Cumbria, will be hosting “Ready? Apprenticeship? GO!”, an information evening in Carlisle on Tuesday 5th March. The event is aimed at 16 and 17 year olds looking to secure an apprenticeship as their next step after GCSEs.
Louise Latta, Skills and Development Advisor with Inspira, said: “We want to provide practical advice to young people to help them achieve their goal. Competition for apprenticeships can be high and we want to make sure they make their application stand out.”
Young people can take their CV along and receive professional feedback, get application hints, interview tips and find out about ways to evidence they have the soft skills employers are looking for.
Susan Watkins, Area Operations Manager North, said: “Employers place great importance on behaviours and attitudes when recruiting apprentices. They can train people to do the job but the applicant needs to demonstrate how their personal development has prepared them for the workplace. Often young people have developed skills transferable to the workplace without even realising it. This is what we want to highlight in helping them with their applications and what better time to do it than National Apprenticeship Week 2019.”
