Investigations are continuing after a woman was found unconscious in Workington town centre – but there is nothing to suggest it is suspicious at this stage.

The woman, 38, from Workington, remains in a stable condition in the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

She is expected to be discharged today.

Police were called at 1.54am yesterday (May 7) after the woman was found on Pow Street.

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Smith said: “Inquiries are continuing to establish how the woman received the injuries.

“There is nothing to suggest it is suspicious.

“We are not seeking to arrest anybody at this stage in relation to the injuries.”

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have been in or around this area between 1am and 2am yesterday, who may have seen or heard anything, to contact them.

Call police on 101 quoting log 9 of May 7 2019.
