THE line-up of local talent on display at Kendal Calling 2019 is arguably the finest in the award-winning festival’s 14-year history.

With the majority of Cumbrian acts starring on the Yam Riot stage, there will be some familiar faces dotted around the rest of the bill. One such performer is Ulverston multi-instrumentalist Joe Fleming.

Now based in London, his appearance on the uber-cool Chai Wallah stage marks his first visit to Kendal Calling.

Joe says: “I’m really pleased to be playing Kendal Calling as I grew up in Cumbria and have wanted to play the festival for a while.

“It’s even better to be playing on the mighty Chai Wallah’s stage, and I’m a big fan of Honeyfeet who I see are also playing the same stage.

“I think some of my Cumbrian tribe will be at Kendal Calling too.”

Playing under the banner of The Joe Fleming Band, this will be a rare trip home for an artist who has truly established himself on the South London scene and the national touring circuit, as well as appearances overseas.

Over the past 10 years, Joe has been using his loop pedal to combine live vocals, harmonies, guitar and bass to create a sound that is distinctly his.

Joe adds: “I’ve been based in South London for six years now and occasionally come back to perform. The last time was at Another Fine Fest.

“I’m looking forward to getting out and touring around this summer, meeting people, sharing my music, seeing what works, creating a party, seeing audience reactions, enjoying the sun, vibes and festival atmosphere.

“Those who come to see me can expect original music, looping tricks, big grooves that will make you move, smiles and positive vibes!”

Touring venue Chai Wallah has played host to some of the best cutting edge music on the festival circuit over the last 12 years, presenting an eclectic mix that includes reggae, rock, hip hop, dance, ska and more.

You can see The Joe Fleming Band on the Chai Wallah stage at Kendal Calling 2019, which runs at Lowther Deer Park from July 25-28.

Final tickets for the festival are on sale now, so book early to avoid disappointment via www.kendalcalling.co.uk/tickets
