Fell Foot Park on Windermere will be hosting free kayaking, rowing, yoga, open water swimming and paddle boarding taster sessions during its family friendly Outdoor Festival this weekend, 18th & 19th May, 10am-4pm.
For those who’d prefer to keep their feet on the ground, there are free yoga sessions, adult and children’s tug-of-war, children’s crafts, balance bikes, a treasure trail, a Parkrun, or simply relax on the park’s extensive lawns for a picnic with a view. Crepes, ice cream and wood-fired pizza will also be available.
These are amongst many other sessions which visitors are encouraged to drop in and try, and Fell Foot’s state-of-the-art changing facility, the Active Base, provides hot showers and secure lockers for anyone wanting to dry off before they head home.
Claire Brady, Active Outdoors Development Officer, said, “The Outdoor Festival is a perfect place to try a new sport or activity under expert guidance from our friends at South Windermere Sailing Club, Windermere Rowing Club, Ulverston Canoe Club, Mere Mountains and many others. This is a great opportunity to drop in and have a go if there’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t been sure where to start.”
The Festival is free to enter but there’s a small charge for some other activities, food and drink and entry to the Active Base is £2. Car park is pay and display or free for National Trust members. For more details and a complete timetable please visit: nationaltrust.org.uk/fell-foot
