If you have been thinking about giving swim, bike, run a go, Eden Valley Triathlon Club have the event for you! With manageable distances perfect for first timers, awesome volunteers to help you throughout the event and your friends and family there to cheer you on, you can have a go at triathlon in a fun and relaxed environment.

Go Tri is a totally inclusive initiative aimed at those who want to reach an achievable target, without the pressure of competing in a serious event. This year the club based in Penrith are holding three events that make up a mini-series, with a fourth in the planning for September.

The events are based at Eden’s outdoor pools; Shap, Lazonby and Askham. All events are mid-week, taking place in the evening, they will involve a 200m swim, 10k bike ride and 2.5k run. The swim takes place in the heated outdoor pool, heading out for an undulating bike on the local country roads and finally running on a mixture of paths and grass, finishing back at the pool.

  • Lazonby GoTri Wednesday 10 July 2019
  • Askham GoTri Wednesday 14 August 2019

This event is open to all, you just need a roadworthy bike and a helmet and be aged 15 by the 31st December 2019. There is a great relaxed atmosphere and it is an ideal opportunity for beginners and improvers alike.

Emily, a volunteer at the club said: “Its such a fun event, a great event to start working towards something bigger, or just to have a go at something new. Its small enough to be friendly and supportive, and the locations are so pretty, its worth the effort.

“There will be an event briefing that will take place at the pool at 18.00 with the race starting shortly afterwards. There’s facilities at all sites to leave equipment and grab a shower. With all events, we love to be sociable, so we’ll be celebrating at the local mobile chip van once everyone has finished and packed away.”
