Have a go at sailing at Ullswater Yacht Club

If you have ever fancied the idea of sailing, now could be the time to give it a go. Ullswater Yacht Club is holding special taster sessions as part of the Royal Yachting Association’s Push the Boat Out campaign on Saturday, May 25, 1pm – 4pm.

You will be welcome to try your hand at sailing a dinghy under the friendly expert guidance of a qualified RYA sailing instructor from the club’s Ullswater Sailing School for just £5 per person.

The club will provide buoyancy aids and helmets for all under 16s and anyone else who wants one. We suggest you bring a spare set of clothes just in case and wear warm clothing, waterproof/ windproof jacket and shoes you don’t mind getting wet.

The taster sessions are for all from eight to 80+, or younger with parents or guardians, family groups are most welcome. Children under eight can take part but must be accompanied by an adult on the water. We are a family-friendly club and have members of all ages and abilities.

You will be very welcome to spend the afternoon at the club, the kitchen and bar will be open, there will be club racing taking place to watch and members available to explain what is happening.

To book your place online visit: https://ullswateryachtclub.org/event/push-the-boat-out-1

For details, please contact Sailing Development Officer Edmund Clarke, email [email protected] tel 07926382612.

Ullswater Yacht Club is on the Eastern shore of the lake about two miles from Pooley Bridge. It welcomes new members and offers learn-to-sail courses and taster sessions for all ages through its Ullswater Sailing School. Visit www.ullswateryachtclub.org for details.
