Officers investigating an incident where a man suffered stab wounds in Whitehaven have charged a man overnight.
Police were called at 2.15pm on Tuesday 21 May to a report of a man having been stabbed on Brakeside Gardens, Whitehaven.
The injured man, 43, was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, he has since been discharged.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Gerard Murphy, 61, of Brakeside Gardens, Whitehaven, has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.
“Murphy is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today (23 May).”
