A MAN facing two dangerous driving charges following incidents in Carlisle on Monday evening has appeared in front of magistrates.
Matthew Adam Neale, 42, faces a total of three allegations.
Two of these allege the dangerous driving of an Audi A4 vehicle – one relating to an incident at Warwick Road in the city, and a second an incident at London Road.
A third charge alleges the theft of a scooter key belonging to a teenage boy.
A fourth charge alleging failing to stop for a police constable in uniform was withdrawn.
All charges arise out of incidents which are said to have occurred on Monday evening, and sparked a police response.
In the wake of these, a Cumbria Constabulary spokesman issued a public appeal for witnesses following an initial collision which was said to have occurred at Warwick Road. “The incident was eventually brought to a tactical conclusion on Victoria Viaduct,” the police spokesman said.
Neale, of William Street, Cotehill, near Carlisle, appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court in the city this morning (WED).
Prosecutor Diane Jackson gave a summary of the allegations faced by Neale, who did not enter pleas to the three charges.
He is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on August 16, and in the meantime was granted conditional bail by the magistrates.
