Woman critical after Fitz Roundabout crash

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage in relation to a serious road traffic collision which occurred on the A595 at Fitz Cottage Roundabout, Cockermouth at 1:02pm, yesterday, Tuesday 30th July.

The incident involved a Blue Toyota Aygo and a Silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver of the Toyota, a 51-year-old woman from the local area was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, she is described as critical but stable at this time.

“The driver of the Jeep, a 70-year-old man from West Cumbria was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with minor injuries and has since been released.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage in the area at the time is asked to contact PC2344 Ross on 101, email [email protected] or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log number 108 of the 30th July 2019.
