Police and other emergency services are dealing with a serious collision on the A683 at Middleton, near Sedbergh.
Police were called at 4:40pm.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The collision involved a car and a motorcycle.
“The road is closed while emergency services deal with the incident.”
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
