Cumbria Police are investigating the theft of a defibrillator from outside the Civic Hall, Market Square, Cleator Moor in the early hours of Friday 11th October.

The defibrillator is distinctive and police are asking for the public’s help to recover the item, which has been provided for the benefit of the local community in Cleator Moor.

PC Holt said: “This defibrillator was purchased via fundraising for the benefit of the local community at a time of urgent need, as the area had no such provision before.

“These machines are a vital resource and can make the difference between life and death. The person who took this item has given no thought to the safety of others in their community.

“I would urge anyone with information in relation to this theft to contact police via 101, or alternatively anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 50 of the 11th October 2019. Should the defibrillator be located, please inform police immediately so that it can be returned to use in our community.”
