Lakes College

Lakes College have announced their achievement of the government-backed Cyber Essentials Plus Certification.

Cyber Essentials is a key part of the UK’s National Cyber Security Programme, and aims to ensure that sensitive data and information are secure and being handled correctly. The badge is given to companies who can demonstrate and verify that they are secure across digital platforms. Gaining the Cyber Essentials status demonstrates the college’s commitment to digital security and protecting against online threats.

The accreditation has been awarded through QG Business Solutions Ltd. The Cumbria-based certification body Indelible Data Ltd visited the college over a period of days, and tested the college’s security systems by searching for any vulnerabilities as hackers would.

Neil Hamblin, the college’s Digital Services Manager, commented “The Cyber Essentials Plus Badge is seen as a key national standard for security, and we are extremely proud to have achieved this important certificate. The college is committed to keeping our learners and staff safe both off and online.”

“Cyber security is a huge threat to our country, and we’re always preparing for new kinds of hacks and security breaches. All of our staff receive digital awareness training which helps them to stay savvy both at work and at home. Our Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation is a huge achievement for the college, and we will continue to grow and keep our students and staff cyber-safe.”
