Carlisle city centre is set to welcome a bustling open-air market made up of wooden chalets selling festive food, drinks and gifts.

The Carlisle Christmas Market will be held between Saturday 30 November and Sunday 8 December in the pedestrianised area outside the City’s Old Town Hall.

The market has been organised by Carlisle City Council and there is still the opportunity for local traders to take part in the event. Any traders interested in taking part, are asked to contact the council at [email protected] or call 01228 817358.

Paul Walker, Destination Manager at Carlisle City Council, said: “The market is free to attend and there’s still the opportunity for more local traders to take part. The event will be made up of traders from around Cumbria and the Borderlands region and will include food, drink and other festive gifts.”

The opening times for the Carlisle Christmas Market are:

  • 9.30am-5.30pm: Saturday 30 November, Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 December, Friday 6 December and Saturday 7 December.
  • 9.30am-8.30pm: Thursday 5 December.
  • 11am-4pm: Sunday 1 December and Sunday 8 December.
