On Saturday 30th November, Workington Town Centre was buzzing with a hive of free activities for families all leading up to the Town’s light switch on.
Organised by Workington Town Council, the event ran from 11am – 5pm and featured free face painting, crafts, live music and performances, walkabout entertainers, giant snow globe, fun fair, Santa’s Grotto, magic, puppets, superheroes and princesses.
Committed2Rock led the build up to the lights switch on at 5pm by The Mayor of Workington, Cllr Janet King, who was joined on stage by the winner and runners up of her Christmas card competition.
Chair of Workington Town Council’s Culture Committee, Cllr Carole Armstrong said, ‘it was absolutely wonderful to see so many people come out and support this event. The Town Centre had an amazing atmosphere and everyone was really enjoying themselves. The umbrella parade, led by Bjamba Samba, was a particular highlight this year and all the acts on our stage did a wonderful job of entertaining the crowds.’
