Spring into the New Year at The Brewery

Spring at the Brewery has never looked more exciting, get ready to enjoy a packed programme featuring a variety of music gigs from Mercury prize winners, BBC 2 DJ’s and folk icons, comedians from legendary series Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights and Theatre from imitating the dog, one of the UK’s most original and innovative theatre companies.

Night of the Living Dead

The award-winning IMITATING THE DOG theatre company will be performing at the Brewery Theatre for the first time, bringing their remix of Night of the Living Dead to the stage. Watch as seven strangers take refuge from flesh-eating ‘ghouls’ in an isolated farmhouse, not for the faint-hearted, it’s going to be a thrilling ride [3-4 Mar].

‘We are thrilled to be presenting ITD’s latest full scale-show, having the company work in and around the building during 2019 we can’t wait to show our audiences this exciting new adaptation’ – Miriam Randall (CEO – Brewery.)

Kicking off the music season is TURIN BRAKES acoustic gig featuring songs from their new album ‘Invisible Storm’, with support from singer-songwriter KEVIN PEARCE [17 Jan]. FIELD MUSIC Mercury prize-winners and indie music’s leading light tour their new album ‘Making A New World, with support from EMMA POLLOCK [31 Jan].

BBC 6 Music and Radio 2 broadcaster MARK RADCLIFFE returns to the Brewery with electronica tech-head Paul Langley to perform UNE, an electronica music gig spanning many styles [19 Mar].

MASSIVE WAGONS

Local band MASSIVE WAGONS, the hard rock quintet, who shot to fame in 2018 with their single ‘Back to the Stack’ perform their Status quo inspired set for the first time in the Malt Room [6 Mar].

JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR wraps up the music programme with her unique UK tour, performing ‘Reckless Heart’ and songs from her extensive back catalogue [20 Mar].

The comedy line-up includes paranormalist CLINTON BAPTISTE best known for his psychic readings on Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights [7 Feb]. Mock The Week regular and star of his own BBC Radio 4 series, RHYS JAMES heads to Kendal with his first national tour, Snitch [8 Feb]. The consummate comedian, JOSIE LONG performs her set ‘Tender’ all about the mind-bending intensity of new motherhood [6 Mar].

Ladies That Bus

LADIES THAT BUS are set to entertain with the heart-warming and hilarious tales of journeys taken, and not taken, on the Route 555 bus to Keswick. Developed together with the Brewery Arts Centre audiences can celebrate in the stories of the region [11-12 Feb].

The Brewery welcomes back Emergence Dance with their 2020 Tour, set to be another of Arnott’s acclaimed productions, and the Live Screening schedule brings iconic musicals including, 42 Street, starring Bonnie Langford.

This season Screen Arts features Dame Judy Dench in Kenneth Branagh’s THE WINTER’S TALE [18 Jan]. James McAvoy from X-Men fame stars in CYRANO DE BERGERAC, an inventive new adaptation by Martin Crimp [7 Mar]. THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, the classic Russian Ballet revives Oliver Messel’s wonderful designs and glittering costumes to the stage and is sure to cast its spell over anyone who sees it [16 Jan].

The Family line up sees ROALD DAHL AND THE IMAGINATION SEEKERS hunting for disappearing children’s books to save the stories for future generations [8 Feb]. COMEDY CLUB 4 KIDS returns with another hilarious line-up of popular mainstream comedians from the international circuit performing for families …. without the rude bits! [21 Mar]

Make a night of it and dine in the Vats Bar, choose from a fantastic selection of pizza, street and soul-inspired mixing and sharing dishes from the best suppliers across the region. The Vats Bar is now a FREEHOUSE and serves a wide range of local beer from local breweries – all at local prices.

Visit the Brewery for live music, comedy, theatre, food and drink, entertainment and much more this spring.
