Newlands Care Centre in Workington decided to celebrate Burns Night with a traditional Burns Night Supper to the tune of bagpipes and throughout the evening sang some of the Rabbie Burns tunes well into the wee small hours!
Residents and staff all got involved with the spirit of burns night and enjoyed listening to Scottish music and poems followed by enjoying a supper of traditional haggis, neaps and tatties especially prepared by the homes chef.
General Manager, Kim Whelan at Newlands Care Centre, said: “This has been a huge amount of fun and everyone thoroughly enjoyed hearing the Scottish bagpipe music and Robert Burns poems read aloud.”
“A resident at the home said: “It’s been lovely to hear Burns’ poems again. I haven’t really heard them since I was a little girl.”
