The VE Festival in Gosforth due to take place on May 8th has been postponed by organisers over concerns with the current health crisis.

Event directors issued a statement: “In the current climate of growing public health concern over COVID-19 (Coronavirus) we have taken the decision to postpone VE in Gosforth.

“This decision has not come easy however we would prefer to postpone the event now rather than it getting too close to the date. Our main priority and thoughts are with the elderly in our community and those who are vulnerable.  We would like to ensure everybody that plans will stay the same and will just transfer over.

“We would also like to send our wishes to those who are inevitably going to be impacted by the COVID-19 the families, individuals and the businesses and wish for all to stay safe. We endeavour to keep all attendees and those involved updated with dates and any other relevant information. Please  do keep a look out for information on Gosforth’s VE Facebook page and in the local press. Thank you.”

New information will be released in the coming weeks.
