North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) is thanking local communities and businesses for all the generosity, support and kindness shown to staff members during this extremely difficult time.

The Trust has been inundated with an abundance of kind donations for NHS staff and patients since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

As this situation evolves it is crucial the Trust continues to adapt and is now working up new ways to best support staff and coordinate donations in the coming weeks.

Daniel Scheffer, Company Secretary said “We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received and cannot thank our local communities enough. We’ve received lots of kind donations including food deliveries and a range of other donations which we are very grateful for.

“We’ve been looking at ways to specifically manage food donations and we’re now asking that in line with the social distancing measures, the public avoid coming to our sites with hot or perishable food deliveries.   We have thanked those who have been donating food and are asking them to consider donating to food banks or contacting charities who are supporting vulnerable people in the community.”

“For anyone looking to make a donation, we are asking that these use our new central co-ordination hub which will really help us in making sure all donations are managed and distributed to the most appropriate place and minimise the amount of people on our sites. ”

David Waddington, Staff Chair added “We are so grateful for everything we’ve been donated and I know this has made a huge difference to our staff during this extremely difficult time. Staff are so grateful for the kindness they have been shown. Going forward we would ask that all donations be made through the proper channels and that we ensure for Health and Safety reasons that we now move away from people bringing fresh food to our sites. Thank you.”

Members of the public can also donate to the official ‘Just Giving’ page. The funds raised here will go towards helping staff come to terms with their experiences as they move forward through this crisis.

The Trust ask that all donations should be routed through the co-ordination hub who can be contacted via email: [email protected] or by calling 01228 814567.
