A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a woman in West Cumbria has appeared in front of a judge.
Florin Catalin Cojocaru, 43, faces one charge. This alleges that he sexually assaulted the female on April 2 this year.
The charge alleges that criminal conduct involved the touching of the woman’s abdomen and an attempt to remove her trousers.
During a short hearing at Carlisle Crown Court today (THURS), Romanian national Cojocaru – who was assisted by an interpreter appearing remotely over a Skype link – pleaded not guilty to the charge he faces.
A trial in front of a jury will now take place at the crown court and, it is estimated, will last around three days. This is due to start on October 26 this year.
In the meantime, Cojocaru, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody by Judge Nicholas Barker.
