Children and staff of Crosby Ravensworth CE Primary School spent a day running around the school to raise funds for a local foodbank.
Between them, they completed over three hundred laps, which equated to 41 miles – a marathon and a half!
Headteacher Duncan Priestley said: “Everyone from 3 years upwards took turns to run the baton around the field. It was a team effort to get through the day and we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved.”
The school were inspired to raise money to support the Salvation Army foodbank in Penrith as they realised it wouldn’t be possible to receive a collection of food during their Harvest Festival service as usual this year due to COVID restrictions.
As it stands, they’re well on track to raise over £300 which is a big achievement for a small village school.
