POLICE are appealing for witnesses in connection with an investigation into an aggravated burglary in Morecambe.

Officers were called around 9.15am yesterday (Monday, October 12) to a report four men wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons had entered an address in Stuart Avenue and threatened a woman. She made off from the scene with the men leaving in a vehicle.

A short time later officers received a report a red Ford Focus car had been involved in a collision on Euston Road, before travelling to Scholar Green Lane where it stopped with four men getting out of the vehicle.

Officers attended the scene and following a search of the area two men were arrested.

Detectives are appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone who helped to direct police and help in the arrest of the men.

Det Con Mark Nelson, of Lancaster Police, said: “We are keen to speak to a number of witnesses who we believe can help with our investigation.

“Once we attended the scene close to Scholar Green Lane several members of the public directed officers to the area the alleged offenders were.

“If this was you we would ask you to come forward and help police with our enquiries.

“Any information could be crucial to our investigation.”

If you can help police please call Lancashire Police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 0281 of October 12.

Lee Chapman, 26, of River Walk, West Auckland and Peter Barker, 32, of no fixed address, were charged with aggravated burglary and are due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, October 13).
