Barrow and Furness has received £499,000 from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
The £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund is designed to protect Britain’s world-class cultural, arts and heritage institutions which have faced significant challenges throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
This includes organisations like The Forum, Signal Film and Media and Furness Abbey in Barrow.
Simon Fell, Barrow and Furness MP, said: “Organisations like The Forum, Signal Film and Media and Furness Abbey are at the beating heart of Furness’ cultural life, and I am delighted they’ve been able to benefit from the Government’s support.
“The funding has undoubtedly protected jobs and given our local cultural organisations the best chance of coming back strongly after the pandemic.
“I know the Government will continue to stand squarely behind cultural institutions across the country.”
