Woman dies 12 days after Windermere road traffic collision

A woman has died, 12 days after a road traffic collision in Windermere.

Police were called at around 8.45pm on Friday, December 4 to attend the incident, at the junction of Ellerthwaite Road and New Road.

It involved a Red Citroen C3 and two Pedestrians, a man and a woman from Hexham.

The man and woman were taken to Preston Royal Hospital.

The woman, Olwyn Mary Kirkby,  71, of Hexham, died on Wednesday this week.

Her family has been informed and a family liaison officer has been appointed.

Police said the man was making a good recovery. The driver of the car was uninjured and is assisting police with enquires.
