Primary schools closure update

A number of primary schools across the county will not open for face-to-face lessons with pupils until later this month.

Cumbria County Council asked the Government to allow primary schools to defer fully opening their premises to youngsters, switching to online learning for the majority and allowing children of key workers and vulnerable children into school.

However, the Government refused.

Last night, many schools took to social media to inform parents and carers that they would be closing for emergency inset days today to prepare or closing until later this month.

Here is the latest list from Cumbria County Council, but parents and carers should contact their individual schools in the usual way for the latest updates.
