19-year-old man arrested after vehicles set on fire and incidents overnight

A 19-year-old Maryport man has been arrested following a number of vehicle fires and incidents in the area.

Police are investigating the incidents, which occurred between 2.20am and 7.05am today, as potentially linked

Incidents reported include:

  •  At 2.20am police received a report of an attempted burglary at Long and Small Garage and Car Wash in Flimby. Damage was caused to the property.
  • At 5.17am police received a report of two vehicles having been set on fire on Solway Trading Estate and three additional vehicles receiving fire damaged.
  • At 6.02am police received a report of suspicious activity outside a property on Senhouse Street Maryport. There was no damage or injuries reported from this incident.
  • Police received a report from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service at 6.08am of a vehicle fire on Station Street, Maryport.
  • At 7.03am, police received a report of theft from a vehicle on Curzon Street, Maryport.

The man was arrested at 12.10pm today and remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have information regarding any of these incidents.
