Workington’s Debenhams store will be among the first 27 branches to close for good.
The firm has confirmed that 27 of its remaining 97 stores across the UK will close on May 2 and May 4, with Workington among the first batch of 16.
The store has reopened briefly to offer sale goods to shoppers.
Debenhams collapsed into administration last year and was bought by online brand Boohoo in January.
Boohoo will take Debenhams online later this year.
Debenhams stores in Carlisle and Barrow will remain open but all stores will close by May 15.
