A roadworks project that was scheduled to start next month has now been delayed.

Cumbria County Council’s highways department will be carrying out repairs to the carriageway on the A6/ Junction 42 roundabout during June.

The works had been scheduled to take place during May, however, due to a delay in barrier replacement works on the M6 by Highways England, the schedule has been revised.

The junction works will now commence from June 14 for seven nights.

A temporary traffic lights system will be in operation with a convoy vehicle to escort traffic through the works.

Closures to the adjoining slip road junctions will also be necessary. All works will be carried out during evening hours (7pm–6am).

All works are due to be completed by the morning of June 23.

The revised schedule of works is detailed below:

  • June 14 and June 15 – Southbound A6 exit slip closed/northbound M6 exit slip closed.
  • June 16 – Southbound A6 exit slip closed/northbound A6 entrance slip closed/C1014 road to Durdar closed/northbound M6 exit slip closed/southbound entrance slip closed.
  • June 17 – Southbound M6 exit slip closed/B6263 road to Cumwhinton closed.
  • June 18 – Southbound M6 exit slip closed/B6263 road to Cumwhinton closed.
  • June 21 and June 22 – Southbound M6 entrance slip closed/south side A6 Junction.

Signed diversions will be in place each night.
