Mums struggling with their mental health can attend an online event this month for help and advice.

The Happy Mums Foundation, based near Carlisle, and the North Cumbria Perinatal Team, have teamed up to hold the event on Friday May 7 from 1pm to 3pm.

There will be a panel discussion around topics such as mental health conditions, how to get help, the challenges of COVID-19 and any factors that affect a woman’s ability to manage their situation.

The event also will come up with ideas to write Cumbria’s first charter for maternal mental health – a statement of our mission to support all women who are struggling.

Panel members include representatives from a local neonatal charity, a West Cumbrian women’s group, Anti-Racist Cumbria, and a variety of health professionals, as well as women with experience of mental illness around the time they became a mum.

Women and family members from across the county are being asked to attend to find out about what help is available, connect with others, share their stories and have their say on the charter.

People can sign up at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mums-mental-health-event-cumbria-tickets-152361217503 or email [email protected] for more information.
