A West Cumbrian museum will welcome back visitors with a prestigious photography exhibition.
The Beacon, in Whitehaven, is the only North West Venue to host The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
The museum reopens next Tuesday, May 18 when visitors can view stunning images from the world-renowned competition which captures the breath-taking diversity of the natural world.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is on loan from the Natural History Museum in London.
Alan Gillon, The Beacon Museum’s learning officer, said: “We are very excited to be reopening with the world-famous Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition,” says
“It is one of the most popular photography shows in the world and visitors are sure to find the exhibition fascinating, inspiring and provocative.
“It’s suitable for all ages and celebrates the drama and splendour of the natural world.”
Wildlife Photographer of the Year has showcased the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. The competition receives over 49,000 entries from all over the world.
This year’s award-winning images will embark on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by over a million people.
Alan added: “The Beacon Museum is delighted to stage an exhibition of such global importance.”
The museum is working to a reduced capacity until pandemic restrictions ease so it is recommended that visitors book tickets as soon as possible.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, July 4.
