An investigation by the fire service has concluded that a 500 square metre blaze at Whinlatter Forest was “accidental”.
A helicopter was called in to assist the nine fire engines from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the blaze on April 23.
The 500 square metre fire was on open scrubland on an embankment at Thornthwaite near Whinlatter Forest.
An investigation was launched by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service to determine the cause of the fire and it has concluded that the cause was “accidental”, saying there were “no suspicious circumstances”.
No one was injured in the blaze.
