Police were called after a teenage boy was taken to hospital when he became ill at a West Cumbrian secondary school.
Paramedics called police at around 10.30am on Thursday.
It was reported to officers that he consumed an unknown liquid which resulted in him becoming ill.
He was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for treatment and has since been discharged.
Police said the substance was not believed to be illegal.
