Thousands of residents and visitors enjoyed a weekend of food, drink and entertainment in Carlisle.
Scores of people descended on Carlisle city centre across the weekend for the first-ever Carlisle Hawker Festival, which featured street food, seated areas and entertainment from local performers and musicians.
A Carlisle City Council spokeswoman said: “The Hawker Festival was a great success and attracted thousands of visitors to the city. All the Cumbrian traders taking part – making up nearly half the open-air market – were given the opportunity to take part free of charge.
“The event also provided a platform for local performers – who were able to perform live to an audience for the first time since lockdowns where put in place.
“The event was held during the day and attracted visitors who then moved on to other venues within the city. We would like to thank all those that took part and supported the event.”
The spokeswoman confirmed that the council was pushing ahead with plans for its annual Carlisle International Market this summer.
