Kells were convincing winners of their latest National Conference group game against local neighbours Hensingham.
They had dominated from the early stages and were 28-10 in the lead at the break, going on to win 70-22 for their first win in the competition after losing the opener at Wath Brow.
The Hornets were unable to follow-up today as their game with Egremont was postponed because of COVID in the Rangers club. Egremont’s second team game with Cockermouth Titans in the Cumberland ARL was also called-off.
Mason Lewthwaite was the match star for Kells as he helped himself to five tries and adding support were Jake Parker (2), Aaron Burns, Tyrone Dalton and Scott Lofthouse. Grant Gainford had 12 shots at goal and missed only once.
Ellis Postlethwaite, Jake Rothery, Russell Burns and Callum Morgan scored the Hensingham tries with Carl Hiddleston kicking three goals.
The game also saw a minute’s applause for everyone who have lost their lives over the past 18 months.
One minute of applause, before the @hensingham_arl game today.
