Miterdale Dusk landed the 2021 Dog Produce at Sandale Heights after producing a storming run on the finish.
He was only third with the line in sight but finished well to pip Kirkland Rebel by half a length with the long-time leader Huntsman’s Quantum a close-up third.
For young owner Sophie Steele is was her second win in the prestigious trail as she trained Miterdale Shadow to win the 2017 Produce.
Shadow went on to win the puppy championship that season and was crowned senior champion last year.
Sophie is the third generation in the sport, following mum and dad Anthony and Steph Steele, and grandparents Mary and John Jenkinson.
She attended her first trail as a babe in arms.
Despite the showery weather a decent crowd enjoyed the six-trail meeting, highlighted by the Produce trail.
There was also a timely family finale as Silver Dusk, the Produce winner’s mother, finished second in the closing veterans trail.
