Carlisle Cricket Club lines up five days of entertainment

Carlisle Cricket Club’s Edenside

A rescheduled T20 under floodlights provides the top entertainment at Carlisle Cricket Club on Friday.

But it is just part of what amounts to a five day festival of cricket at Edenside, with the emphasis very much on youth.

Following the washout of last Friday’s game with Cockermouth, sponsorship from Sunbelt Rentals, Donaldson Furnishers and Spangles Hair Design has enabled the Carlisle club to put on a quick replacement against Workington this Friday.

But the cricket starts on Thursday night when Edenside Eagles host Caldbeck (6.30pm) in a Carlisle and District Midweek League Division A game.

Also om Friday, Appleby Eden entertains Carlisle in the Carlisle Junior League East Division One for Under-13s.

Secretary Mark Davidson said: “On Saturday morning we have our 2021 All Stars & Dynamos sessions getting underway at 9am with an eight week programme of fun cricket activities!

“In the afternoon the first team entertain Dalton in a Cumbria League game while on Sunday there’s a big game between the top two team sin the League when Carlisle take on Furness in the semi-final of the Higson Cup.

“We also have a Junior League Cup quarter final at Under-11s on the Sunday morning between Carlisle and Penrith.

“It doesn’t stop there because on Monday night (6pm) Carlisle play Lanercost in an Under-15s League game.

“We were gutted to lose the floodlit game last Friday after so much preparation and we just hope the weather is kinder for what amounts to a festival of cricket at Edenside over five days.”
