Week four in the Derwent Valley Asbestos Removals Snooker League saw a series of dominant performances across both divisions.
Peter O’Hagan produced a strong all-round display to defeat Stephen Jackson 4–1 in their Division 1One encounter.
Jackson made a bright start claiming the opening frame to take an early advantage.
However, O’Hagan responded in emphatic fashion in the second frame, compiling breaks of 48 and 32 on his way to levelling the match at 1–1.
That proved to be the turning point of the contest as O’Hagan carried the momentum into the third frame, securing another comfortable 68–15 success to take the lead for the first time in the match.
Jackson provided more resistance in the fourth frame, but couldn’t prevent O’Hagan edging the frame to move into a decisive 3-1 lead.
With confidence high, O’Hagan rounded the match off in frame five, with a comfortable victory to seal a 4–1 overall triumph.
Kevin Basnett produced another commanding display to record a 4–1 victory over Ryan Ismay and maintain his unbeaten record at the top of Division One.
The match began with a closely-fought opening frame, as Ismay built a healthy lead aided by a break of 30, but Basnett responded with a break of 41 to edge the frame.
Basnett then tightened his grip on the contest in frame two, taking a comfortable victory before racing across the line with a one sided performance in frame three thanks to breaks of 40 and 36.
The reigning champion continued to score with fluency in the fourth frame, with another notable contribution of 33.
To his credit, Ismay refused to let the contest end in a whitewash and produced his best snooker of the evening in the final frame. A well-crafted break of 30 helped him secure a well-deserved consolation frame.
Andrew Mitchelhill managed to make the best out of a scrappy match to secure a convincing 4–1 victory over Mark Tunstall.

Tunstall started better to take the opening frame for the early lead before Mitchelhill levelled matters in frame two with a solid victory and then edged a closely contested third frame to take the lead.
Mitchelhill extended his advantage in frame four, with patches of more fluent scoring to ensure match victory.
Tunstall battled hard in the final frame, but Mitchelhill held a slight edge in the tactical exchanges and was able to make the better of the scoring opportunities to complete a four-frame winning streak for a hard earned victory.
Stephen Harrison gave his Division Two title chances a boost with a convincing 4-1 victory over Craig Wilkinson.
Harrison stamped his authority on the contest from the opening frame, taking the first comfortably. Wilkinson responded well in the second frame, producing his best display of the evening to level the match at 1-1.
However, Harrison regained control quickly in the third frame with a solid victory before extending his advantage with a commanding display in the fourth. Harrison then wrapped up the match in style, recording the highest frame-winning margin of the night to round off a satisfying 4-1 result.
As the two leading players met, both with unbeaten runs in the season to date, it was Adam Morilla who produced a composed display to secure a 4-1 victory over Mark Cowan and take the lead at the top of Division Two.
The match began in dramatic fashion, with Morilla edging a closely fought opening frame to gain the early advantage. He followed up by taking another close frame in the second, putting pressure on Cowan.
His opponent responded superbly in the third frame, producing his strongest snooker of the evening to claim a convincing win and reduce the deficit to 2-1.
Any hopes of a comeback, however, were quickly extinguished as Morilla regained control in the fourth frame, compiling a solid victory to move into an unassailable lead.
The final frame proved to be the tightest contest of the night with both players battling hard. Morilla held his nerve in the closing stages to edge a thrilling decider on the final black in what may prove to be a decisive point in the title race.
Adam Sowden produced a dominant display to complete a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Andrew Carruthers.
From the outset, Sowden looked in control, taking the opening frame comfortably. Carruthers fought hard in the second but Sowden managed to retain the momentum, edging the frame narrowly.
Sowden maintained his dominance in the third to move 3-0 ahead and put the contest beyond doubt. He showed no signs of easing off, taking the fourth frame with another accomplished display.
With the result already decided, Sowden remained focused and completed the whitewash in the final frame and leapt into a share of second place in the division.
