After more than a year off, Cumbrian clubs are gearing up for a resumption of fixtures as September sees the start of a new League programme.
So far Penrith and Aspatria have not added any new players from outside the club but have already pencilled in warm-up games.
Penrith have organised a home game on August 21 for both first and second teams against Consett.
Chairman Geoff Matthews said: “It’ a nice opener as Consett are the same level as us but in North One East. We are then going to take a mixed first/second team to Cockermouth on Friday, August 27.
“There’s also the possibility of a run-out for the over-35s at Cockermouth as well.”
Pre-season preparations for Aspatria start on July 31 with a squad being sent to Tynedale’s Sevens tournament.
Club treasurer Barney Clegg said: “The whole squad travels to Kendal on August 7 and the following Saturday, August 14, we have a real test at Bower Park when Alnwick, who play at two levels higher, are the visitors.
“The team then go into closed training in preparation for the opening day fixture on September 4.”
