Workington Reds will have a few absentees for their friendly game on Saturday at Berwick Rangers.
A couple miss out through COVID restrictions, having been in contact with positive test workmates, while others have previously arranged commitments.
Acting manager Stephen Rudd said: “We understand all that but our core eleven will be strong and it will give lads a chance to get a good 70-odd minutes into them. Some of the youngsters from the reserves who missed the Whitehaven game when it was postponed will make-up the squad.
“Berwick start their season next week-end and have had a couple of very good results in preparation so they should be nearly ready to go. It will be quite a test.
“We have a really good run of games coming up after that with home matches against Morecambe, Carlisle and Lancaster.”
Reds have also decided to fit in another game on Saturday, July 24 when they will travel to the North East to play Consett.
Berwick, who lost their place in the main Scottish League structure last season, now operate in the Lowland League which starts next Saturday and they go into the Reds friendly with two 3-1 victories to their credit against a Dundee United side and North Shields.
Rangers had been involved in senior League football for 68 years before the demotion and are still remembered for a 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Glasgow Rangers in 1967.
