A group dealt with three incidents in Carlisle city centre in one day after an increase in retail crime reporting.
Carlisle Business Crime Awareness was responding to an increase in reports of crime from the previous week.
They dealt with one “prolific” male who attempted to steal a basket full of cleaning products. He was arrested for the theft.
In a separate incident, an ambulance was called after concerns for a male’s welfare.
The team also put a cordon in place for public safety after concerns were raised for the welfare of a male in the Citadel.
Intelligence was also gathered throughout the day on known offenders.
