Firefighters in Carlisle have issued a plea to parents to educate their children after a blaze at a golf course in the city.
Carlisle East fire station was called shortly before 4.30pm on Sunday to Stoney Holme Golf Course due to a fire in the open close to the seventh tee.
The fire involved a large amount of driftwood and shrubbery.
The blaze is believed to have been started deliberately.
A spokesman for Carlisle East Community Fire Station said: “Whilst we are delayed attending avoidable incidents like this, we are not available for life-risk incidents. Please educate your children about the consequences of their actions, and dispose of cigarettes responsibly during these long periods of dry weather, when the grass and foliage are tinder dry.
“Thanks to staff at Stoney Holme Golf Course for their assistance in dealing with the blaze.”
