Cumbria lost their prestige game at Sedbergh School quite heavily against Lancashire but relished the experience.
Lancashire were preparing for their Royal London One Day Cup match with Sussex on Friday, and also at Sedbergh School.
The County Championship side won by 209 runs and from all points of view it was a perfect warm-up for them.
They batted first and although losing Josh Bohanann cheaply to Workington’s Matt Lowden, there were plenty of runs at the top of the order.
Keaton Jennings (103), Luke Wells (86), captain Dane Vilas (82) and Rob Jones (56 not out) were able to see them through to a massive 383-7. Lowden (2-60) and Michael Slack (2-61) were the most successful Cumbrian bowlers.
Slack (38) and skipper Gary Pratt (35) batted longest for Cumbria and they were also aided by 36 extras, eventually being bowled-out in the 44th over for 174 with Wells taking 3-17.
Cumbria will find it less testing at the weekend when they start their NCA Championship campaign against Northumberland at Carlisle.
They have already beaten the North East county in the group stage of the NCA Trophy.
