A Parton road is expected to be closed for six months following a landslip overnight.
Around 12 homes were evacuated and roads closed at around 11pm last night after it was reported that the bank behind St Bridget’s School was starting to collapse.
Police, fire and other agencies have been dealing with the incident and an emergency road closure order has been put in place for Main Street by Cumbria County Council because of the danger to the public.

The road is closed from the junction of Brewery Brow for 111 metres to the south west.
The emergency road closure order will be in place for an initial 21 days, the county said, but it was anticipated it would be in place for six months.
The order added that if necessary, it would be followed by a 18-month order.
