Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life has been awarded almost £100,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to help it recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The £98,700 award will be used to pay for a three-and-a-half year resilience project, due to start in November, to provide the museum with a more sustainable future.
John Stevenson, Carlisle MP, said: ‘This is very welcome news for Carlisle. The Museum of Military Life plays a vital role in the history of the city, telling the 300-year story of the county’s Infantry Regiment and its solders past and present through exhibitions, documents, photographs and artefacts. It is well worth a visit.
“This funding will enable the museum to become more sustainable as it looks to the future and recovers from the impact of the pandemic. I am delighted to see yet more Government investment in to the heart of our city.”
