A free festival to promote health and wellbeing will be held in Whitehaven later this month.
The event will take place on August 25, from 10am to 3pm at Whitehaven Rugby League Club’s ground.
Twenty-eight organisations and professionals will offer advice, workshops and activities for all ages.
Workshops will focus on:
- Suicide awareness
- Mindfulness and assertiveness
- Keeping yourself well
- Advice for over-18s who are unemployed
- Energy advice
The event has been organised by Copeland Council’s social prescribing team with NHS locality team, Cumbria County Council and Active Cumbria.
Jan Fotheringham, community support worker of Copeland Borough Council, said: “Social prescribing helps people improve their health and wellbeing in a non-medical way by connecting them with a range of groups, activities and services.
“Being active, engaging with others and learning something new can improve your health and wellbeing.
“Many people will have experienced some kind of issue during the pandemic. Now is a time to connect to a service that can provide much-needed support.”
The festival also provides an opportunity for people to meet others in the community.
