A man has been arrested after allegedly driving dangerously on the A590 near Greenodd on Monday.

The 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a motor vehicle while above alcohol level limit, assault by beating, attempt to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of common assault on an emergency worker.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 4.45pm.

A dark-coloured Range Rover is reported to have been travelling at speed and erratically on the westbound carriageway, causing vehicles coming the other way to take evasive action when it kept crossing the central white lines.

The man, from Ulverston, has been released on police bail.

Officers are asking for anyone who witnessed this driving, or who has dashcam footage, to get in touch.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit , quoting incident number 151 of August 16, call 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
