Goalkeeper Morgan Bacon has been labelled the best goalkeeper in the NPL West Division by his Kendal Town manager.
Chris Humphrey was delighted by Bacon’s performance, along with his fellow defenders, in Town’s 1-0 FA Cup win at Glossop North End.
“When he’s on his game like this, in my opinion he has to be the best keeper in the League,” said Humphrey.
“For the last half an hour Glossop absolutely peppered our box. The number of crosses in there was unbelievable but Morgan and the other lads dealt with them superbly.
“They all defended for their lives with a slender lead to hang onto and it’s great to be through to the next round.
“I was critical of the defence after Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Bootle believing there was a lack of bravery in defending our box. But at Glossop they answered me perfectly, winning all their headers and doing ever so well,” he added.
Kendal got through with a penalty on 28 minutes from Eric Yahaya, who scored five times in pre-season and has now got two in three competitive games.
The Mintcakes follow-up now with three games in seven days as they host Ramsbottom on Tuesday; visit 1874 Northwich on Saturday and entertain Colne on Bank Holiday Monday.
