A man has denied a charge which alleges he threatened police officers and branded them “fascists” and “gay”.
Robert Crellen appeared before Carlisle’s magistrates’ court on August 19 and faced one charge alleging violent behaviour in Workington on July 19.
It alleges that Crellen, 30, threatened to headbutt police officers and “smash their face in”. He is also said to have branded police “gay” and “fascists”.
Crellen, of Church Street in Whitehaven, also faces a charge of being drunk and disorderly in Whitehaven Train Station.
He is also accused of assaulting a police officer by beating.
All three allegations relate to July 19.
An allegation of criminal damage has also been made against Crellen, which alleges that on August 1 he damaged a pair of spectacles and a picture valued at £76.
He faces separate charges alleging assault by beating and theft of a pair of trainers, two Xbox games, two pairs of sunglasses, four Stanley knives and a bracelet valued at £140.30.
Crellen is also accused of assaulting a different police officer and stealing an automatic machine or metre valued at £20. All four of these offences are alleged to have taken place on August 1.
He denies all charges.
