Furness are within touching distance of the Cumbria League’s Premier Division title after a big win over their closest rivals Cockermouth.
Without four of their senior players Cockermouth were beaten by 69 runs after appearing to have got themselves firmly into the contest.
When Furness were 58-4 they needed a vital fifth wicket partnership of 63 between professional Promod Maduwantha (56no) and Mark Daly (34) to get them back on track.
They were eventually bowled out for 163 with youngster Josh Brown excelling on his senior debutfor Cockermouth, taking 3-32 from his ten overs.
It should have set-up a tense reply but without some of their key top-order batsmen Cockermouth never really functioned.

Skipper Gareth White (36) opened and tried to anchor the reply but when he was sixth out the tail only added another seven runs and the innings fizzled out at 94.
Wyll Stanway proved to be the Furness match-winner, returning the remarkable figures of 6-2-17-5.
