The curse of the online meeting hit Copeland MP Trudy Harrison.
We’ve all not managed to press mute in a Teams or Zoom meeting – and the MP is no exception.
Mrs Harrison was giving evidence in the Public Inquiry about the planning application by West Cumbria Mining, which is in its first day.
After completing her statement, she was thanked by planning inspector Stephen Normington and switched her camera off.
However her microphone was not switched off and as the online discussion continued, she was clearly heard to say “Oh my God, that was the most terrible and nervous performance I have ever….” before Mr Normington alerted her that her microphone was not turned off.
She recovered her poise and thanked him for pointing it out.
It was the end of an afternoon of technical difficulties for Mrs Harrison. She was due to speak at 3pm, but her connection failed twice and Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, stepped in.
